Adulting can be hard. Relationships can be hard. Being your authentic self can be hard. For all these reasons and many more, I work with a wide range of clients and presenting issues.
My name is Dan & I offer individual & partner therapy from my practice rooms in Bricket Wood, St. Albans as well online & telephone counselling.
My aim is to provide the right therapy for your specific needs in a safe space where you can explore without judgement or prejudice. My practice is pluralistic which means I adapt our sessions to best suit you, & utilise a combination of philosophies including humanistic, CBT, psychodynamic and existentialism to help you achieve your therapy goals.
Sex & relationships are fundamental to what it means to be human. I am a COSRT accredited psychosexual & relationship therapist specifically trained to help you with these important areas.
How we experience & cope with our lives is impacted by a combination of biological, psychological & social factors. Together at St Albans Therapy we can explore these & come up with a plan to make the changes you want.
I work with both trainee & qualified supervisees, supporting your practice & personal & professional growth. I offer 1-2-1 supervision as well as group supervision for up to 3 people.
EXCELLENT Based on 10 reviews Posted on Paul Albert27 February 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can't recommend Dan highly enough. I've had various therapists over the years and probably made more progress and had new awareness with him than all the others combined. I always found him accepting, patient, understanding and I was a big fan of his whiteboard. He used it from time to time to demonstrate and explain things that were really useful. I felt totally comfortable and safe with him which enabled me to be open and vulnerable which hasn't always been the case. When I was looking for a therapist he was happy to have a Zoom call so I could 'meet' him first which helped me decide he was the right person for me. I appreciate the right therapist is a very personal thing but overall it was a really positive experience and I'm really grateful for the time we had.Posted on Clive Garsin26 February 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dan was wonderful in helping me through a tough period. He’s a great listener, with a very calm demeanour. I highly recommend Dan for his professionalism, expertise and reassuring advice. I would advise anyone, especially those who don’t think they need some therapy, to give Dan a call.Posted on Dominique Mcb18 February 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have been seeing Dan for over two years now. I started seeing him for couples therapy with my partner and it honestly saved our relationship and brought us closer. I continued to see Dan alone after we finished couples therapy. I have BPD, MDD and suffer from anxiety among other things. Since seeing Dan my quality of life has improved greatly, not only do I get support during sessions, I know i can call him for support on my darkest days if I can’t see a way out. He breaks my emotions down on a psychological level enabling me to understand them differently. I have learnt so much about myself from my sessions with Daniel and I can only speak highly of him and his professionalism, knowledge and experience. I feel safe in my sessions and know my best interest are always being considered. Therapy with Daniel has changed my relationship for the better and changed my life, I don’t think I’d be where I am and who I am today without his sessions, support and guidance. I would highly recommend Daniel to anyone especially if you have complex disorders or any level of trauma. I continue to have regular therapy sessions with him and will continue for many years to come. It's inevitable you'll get into some rough spots as a person, so you'll need a good therapist. Luckily, we found a great one. Dan helps so much with giving tools needed to navigate life's hard moments, and for us in particular, it made our relationship shine again. He is always present, respectful, and really allows what exists to exist, along with some gentle guidance.Posted on Charlotte Hazell22 January 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Daniel has been life changing for me. He’s helped me navigate and overcome some really tricky times. Daniel has also taught me a lot about myself and provided strategies and tools that have helped me in life to not be held back by situations or relationships that previously would have. Daniel is extremely reliable, professional and easy to talk to. He’s shown great empathy and understanding and I’ve always felt safe during our sessions. Daniel works in a dynamic way that helps develop great self awareness and confidence managing the stressors that life throws at you. Friends and family have also been to Daniel when they have needed it most and they have also benefitted greatly.Posted on Paul21 January 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’m extremely grateful for the support I received from Dan. He helped me navigate some of the hardest moments in my life and gave me tools and understanding that I still use today. He created a calm, safe, and non-judgmental space, and the work we did together made a real difference. Myself and my partner saw Daniel for couples therapy in 2025. Without it we wouldn't still be together. Our 18 year relationship was messy and bordering on being hostile. The fact that Daniel has the knowledge and expertise to help with polyamory and LGBTQ+ issues was a relationship saver! He has a very good way of getting people to communicate properly and see things from different angles, without inserting his own opinions. He's caring and very open minded which put me and my partner at ease right away. I can honestly say that he saved our relationship!! We're in a very good place now, with the tools to communicate properly and understand each other better. I'm so impressed by Daniel that I recommended him to my friends, a couple of couples I know have various issues, they took me up on my recommendation and have seen Daniel too. They're also of the same opinion as me. :) I wholeheartedly recommend Daniel as a therapist. The fact that he is LGBTQ+, poly and kink friendly just makes him an even better therapist.Posted on Vince rose13 January 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have been seeing Dan for over six months now, and this has truly been the most impactful therapy experience of my life. He helped me finally understand the root of my adult triggers and how my past has been shaping my present. With his guidance, I’ve learned how to navigate a healthy relationship that’s outside my usual pattern (i.e. not my archetypal type) with far more confidence and self-awareness. He also helped me continue to improve a deeply personal physical issue in the bedroom that I never believed could change. His insight, compassion, and skill have been life-changing. I’m incredibly grateful for this work and couldn’t recommend him more highly. And I look forward to continuing to work with him to make yet more progress. Thank you Dan, you have a very special skill!
