FAQs

  • After arranging a time via phone or email, we will meet for an introductory session for you to discuss why you have come for counselling, what you would like to get from therapy and to agree if we both feel we can work together.

Assuming you wish to proceed, we will arrange a regular time slot for counselling sessions moving forward.

  • Yes. If you would like a short call to see if I am the right person to work with you we can definitely do that. These are free of charge.

  • Each session lasts 50 minutes. Normally clients have one session a week.

There is no set time for how long therapy should last. Some people have counselling for a few months, others for a few years. We will review how things are going regularly. Ultimately, the counselling ends when you decide.

A minimum commitment of six to 12 weeks is usual but again, this is entirely your decision.

  • Individual counselling sessions are £80

    Partner therapy sessions are £90

  • I accept bank transfer or cash. I kindly ask that you pay before the start of the start of the session.

  • Despite our best intentions, life gets in the way! If for any reason you cannot make a counselling session I ask that you give me 24 hours notice wherever possible. There will be no charge for sessions cancelled more than 24 hours beforehand.

  • In essence this is up to you. We will work with what you want to bring to therapy. Sometimes this maybe an ongoing issue or theme we are exploring, other times it may be something that has just happened that day.

It is a bit of a cliche, but it is true that the more you put into therapy, the more you get out of it.

  • There is no getting away from the fact that counselling can be a difficult and sometimes emotional experience. The important thing to remember is that you are in a safe environment where you can explore and express yourself.

If the occasion arises when a therapy session is proving too difficult, you are free to end the session when you need to.

  • Absolutely. Everything we discuss within the counselling room is completely confidential.*

*The only circumstance under which confidentiality may need to be reviewed is in relation to health and safety concerns regarding you, me or significant others in accordance with legal and professional requirements.

  • Tilly is not a therapy dog, but most clients enjoy her presence. She tends to come and go on her own terms. You are very welcome to request she doesn’t come into the room.
